Workshop Agenda
The goal of this workshop is to inform arborists, landscape managers, landscape contractors, and planners about managing tree and landscape pests.
8:30 – 9:00 a.m. Registration and Welcome
9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Diseases of Oaks
This class will explore why oaks are such important components of our landscapes and forests and give participants an introduction to several common oak diseases and disorders; pest and disease life cycles, hosts, signs, symptoms and management will be discussed.

10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Plant Walk and the IPM Approach to Managing Insects in Landscapes
We will explore the Wilson Botanical Garden while looking for pests and diseases that are affecting or could affect the plant material represented. We will discuss what an IPM approach might look like and what we can do as professionals to protect beneficial insects and pollinators in the landscape.

11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Managing Spotted Lanternfly: Latest Insights & Strategies
We will discuss 2024 spotted lanternfly update, newly infested areas, life cycle, and how to manage a landscape with an active spotted lanternfly population.
