The goal of this workshop is to inform arborists, landscape managers, landscape contractors, and planners about managing tree and landscape pests.
8:30 – 9:00 a.m. Registration and Welcome
UPDATE! NEW SPEAKERS 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Strengthening PHC Approaches in Arboriculture
Many of the current research projects at The Bartlett Tree Research Lab and Arboretum are focused on the efficacy of current plant health care (PHC) recommendations and the development of new recommendations. These topics are being researched to improve IPM programs and plant health care strategies that Bartlett recommends to the arboriculture industry. The primary focus of this presentation is to share an overview of current Entomology and Pathology projects and how they are helpful for continuing to improve PHC in arboriculture.

10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Plant Walk and the IPM Approach to Managing Insects in Landscapes
We will explore outdoor plants while looking for pests and diseases that are affecting or could affect the plant material represented. We will discuss what an IPM approach might look like and what we can do as professionals to protect beneficial insects and pollinators in the landscape.

11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Managing Spotted Lanternfly: Latest Insights & Strategies
We will discuss 2024 spotted lanternfly update, newly infested areas, life cycle, and how to manage a landscape with an active spotted lanternfly population.
